Notes about food at Barradas

Undated journal notes

At Barradas, breakfast is from 7 am – 10 am(?) during the week. We get:
White (bimbo) or wheat bread – toast and add butter or jam or olive oil & salsa
Other breads: cookies, croissants, packaged muffins
Cereal: Sugar Smacks, Cocoa Puffs, Corn Flakes (Dale likes to go to the Rotterdam Supermarket next door to buy “adult” cereal – they have a few other kinds, but not many)
“Blended” juice (zumo) – orange, pineapple
Milk – skim or regular, hot or cold
Packets of hot chocolate

Lunch, from 1:30-3:30 pm is traditionally the biggest meal of the day. We usually get some combination of the following at Barradas:
Lentil soup with potatoes and carrots, very rarely gazpacho (not as good as in restaurants)
French fries – common (although “homemade” from real potatoes, they are still deep fried)
Salad – lettuce & tomato mostly, with oil & vinegar
Breaded or fillets of fish
Chicken (dark meat only)
Pork – in the form of thin sliced ham, pork chops, sometimes hot dogs
Mixed salad which may contain pasta, potatoes, eggs, tomatoes, hearts of palm, asparagus, peas, tuna (this is my favorite!)
Beef – “bife” – thin fillets
French bread
Occasionally juice
Fruit, yogurt (most common) or ice cream (least common) for dessert
