Weekly Feature: Flashback Friday – Valentine’s Days of years past.

Because Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, this Flashback Friday looks at Valentine’s Days from 2004 to 2014….

But first, a special picture of my late mother-in-law, Carlota “Baby” Villalonga, during Carnaval, Feb. 2003, in Rio de Janeiro.    (From my 2003 scrapbook)

My former mother-in-law poses with a carnaval "fantasia" in Rio de Janeiro (probably not exactly on Valentine's Day), 2003.

This valentine took up almost an entire page of my 2005 scrapbook! It was from one 4th grader in my 4th/5th bilingual class. I think she put in a lot of time creating it!

Valentine’s Day is also my husband’s birthday, and 2004 was a landmark birthday for him. (From my 2004 scrapbook)

I don’t have any pictures or momentos from Valentine’s Days after 2005, until 2011.

2011

We celebrated Dale’s birthday and Valentine’s Day at my sister Mary’s house. My 18 month old grand-niece, Grace, was also there.

In 2011, I was a bilingual 2nd grade classroom teacher. Below are pictures from our Valentine’s Day party:

2012: This was taken a few days after Valentine’s Day. We celebrated February birthdays of three generations in my family: my husband Dale, my son Jayme, and my little grand-nephew Benjamin – his first birthday!

??????????????????

2014
For the past two school years, I have been working as a bilingual program assistant in two 1st/2nd grade bilingual classrooms.  During holiday parties, the two teachers create fun thematic “centers” through which students rotate – games, coloring or making something, and – their favorite – eating treats!!  One of the games was “Dame un beso” – sort of like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, except you pin the kiss (beso) on the frog!

IMAG1470 IMAG1433Tomorrow on the actual day of Valentine’s Day, I will post a “day of hearts”, a photo essay of hearts taken today and tomorrow.  Come back and see it!!
