For Valentine’s Day this year, I’m posting a photo essay of hearts. All pictures were taken by me on Feb. 13-14, 2015 with my Samsung phone camera.
It all started at school yesterday with a second grade girl with a unique hairdo. (How does her mom do this? I thought.) I asked if I could take a picture of her hair and she said yes. That was what made me decide to take pictures of hearts.
Of course, as you would expect, another girl with a fancy hairdo wanted me to take a picture of her hair too. It was very impressive, but not heart-shaped. I took her picture anyway, and include it here because of she had hearts on her dress.
Although I expected to attend my class’s Valentine’s Day party and take lots of pictures there, which I then would send to the classroom teachers, instead I had to go to a meeting I was told about at the last minute. At the meeting, there were cookies!
I got back to the classroom at dismissal time. The students were on their way out and I had to do bus duty. Some of the students I work with in reading told me as they were leaving that they had put their Valentines for me on the table in back of the classroom. I gathered them up when I came back in from a cold, blustery afternoon and brought them home. Most were boxes of candy:
Most important, however, is that Valentine’s Day is also my husband’s birthday!
I had hoped to go outside today and find some other hearts, perhaps ones that occur in nature. However, we are having an extremely cold day today. The temperature combined with the wind chill feels like -18 degrees F!
