FOTD: Orchids at Izapa

Izapa was a Mayan city in Mexico just west of the Guatemalan border that was inhabited between 1250 BC and AD 1200. The excavated ruins that one can visit represent only a small portion of this important center of trade that was home to around 35,000 people.

On a visit there in April, I spotted these delicate orchids growing on a tree.
