SYW: On sandwiches, candy, astrology and Mother’s Day

For Cee’s weekly Share Your World, here are my responses:

Complete this sentence: This sandwich could really use some …
Probably mustard
What is your least favorite candy?
Anything with peanut butter – I like peanut butter in a sandwich or a dip or in pretzels, but not as a sweet. It’s not only my least favorite, I am not tempted to eat it at all.

These hold no attraction for me at all.

What sign are you? Do you believe in astrology?
Gemini. I don’t really believe in it, but some of the basic characteristics seem to fit and signs that go together. For example, my husband is a fellow Air sign (Aquarius) and Geminis are said to be creative and curious, as well as impatient and impulsive, which all describe me.  According to an astrology web site:
Gemini’s strengths are: Gentle, affectionate, curious, adaptable, ability to learn quickly and exchange ideas. I wouldn’t describe myself overall as “gentle” although I try to be. I am more likely blunt. “Affectionate, curious, adaptable, ability to learn quickly” are spot on. “[ability to] exchange ideas” – sometimes, but I often have trouble expressing myself well orally.

gemini
Weaknesses: Nervous, inconsistent, indecisive. All attributable to my ADD, not astrology (or only coincidentally).
Gemini likes: Music, books, magazines, chats with nearly anyone, short trips around the town. Short trips around town are OK but I prefer long trips to faraway places.
Gemini dislikes: Being alone, being confined, repetition and routine. I may not like routine, but I need it, and find it very hard to establish, yet routines are what help me remember things. And I do often like to be alone – I like time to myself to do what I want.
… Gemini represents two different personalities in one and you will never be sure which one you will face. They are sociable, communicative and ready for fun, with a tendency to suddenly get serious, thoughtful and restless. They are fascinated with the world itself, extremely curious, with a constant feeling that there is not enough time to experience everything they want to see. All true.

Gemini drives people nuts
This is so me!

The sign of Gemini belongs to the element of Air, accompanying Libra and Aquarius, and this connects it to all aspects of the mind. It is ruled by Mercury, the planet that represents communication, writing, and movement. Writing – yes!! That’s my greatest passion and talent! Language (or communication) in general – I’m fascinated by language and I also speak 3 languages.
People born under this Sun sign often have a feeling that their other half is missing, so they are forever seeking new friends, mentors, colleagues and people to talk to. I do like to make new friends, but I have difficulty striking up conversations. However, I’ve gotten better at this – I think my husband, Dale has been instrumental in this – he has always found it easy to talk to people.

Aquarius knows
Dale’s horoscope – very fitting

Gemini’s changeable and open mind makes them excellent artists, especially writers and journalists, and their skills and flexibility make them shine in trade, driving and team

sports. This is a versatile, inquisitive, fun loving sign, born with a wish to experience everything there is out there, in the world. This makes their character inspiring, and never boring.
Although many of the above characteristics are correct, there are also several that don’t describe me at all. So I think that perhaps these constellations (no pun intended) of traits are generalized and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. After all, it is genetics more than sun or moon signs that really determine who we are. I got my lack of athletic ability from my dad (which means I definitely do NOT “shine in team sports”).  I don’t like driving very much either, although I enjoy driving my new car. I got my artistic and writing abilities from my mother, also described here as a Gemini characteristic, although she was not a Gemini (she was a Taurus).
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
Seeing my son, Jayme, on Mother’s Day. In fact, he even arrived at our house ON TIME. This was impressive because he often doesn’t show up at all to family events he is invited to. He didn’t buy me a gift or a card, but his presence, a hug and “Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!” and being clean and decently dressed were enough for me.

By the way, this Pisces horoscope describes Jayme perfectly too (Hmmm, maybe astrology does have merit). But isn’t what it says about Pisces true, to some extent, about most people?

Pisces need to be alone
