Volo Bog, located in a far northwestern suburb of Chicago was one of the nature reserves we visited recently to get away from the boredom of isolated pandemic life. There are trails to explore and wooden walk ways to follow through the bog, in search of birds and other fauna, as well as flora. As we were leaving, I found a patch of these interesting flowers (?) – I think they are flowers, although I have never seen them before or know what species they are.

Look like something from the thistle family???
I’m not sure – I didn’t get close enough to touch it.
