Becky has a new month of squares in February – Square Odds, and this is my first chance to participate! I make up for the days I missed with multiple mushroom oddities! I have a large archive of mushroom photos – I am fascinated by them, although I don’t like to eat them!
These mushrooms look like a pair of ears! They’re not just odd looking, there is an odd number (3) in this cluster! Is there a hole in the middle of this shroom?I captured several specimens like this in northern Wisconsin after a very rainy spring.
Patterns are everywhere in nature. Indeed, humans have imitated nature in creating patterns. Patterns in Nature is the wonderful topic for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week.
Flowers make many patterns.
I love photographing mushrooms, which appear in many shapes and sizes.
These resemble flowers.
Golf ball shaped!

Tree branches, leaves and trunks make their own complex patterns.
It is always worthwhile to stop and admire small leaves and plants – often they surprise you!
Some animals have patterns on their skin, tail, or feathers.
Layers painted rock formations over millions of years. In Arizona, there are many examples of this, at the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert and in Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona.
Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge is a newish challenge, and my first time participating! The theme this week is January Close Up or Macro.
I have never understood why my cell phone camera sometimes takes photos in B&W, like this one.A spreading stump/root system – what does it look like?Sunlight and shadows on tree fungus
I think this is the first or maybe second time that I have participated in this challenge, Sunshine’s Macro Monday, introduced to me by Cee Neuner (Thanks, Cee!).
