There are several types of crocuses. These two species I came across growing randomly in a neighbor’s yard. The yellow ones, called crocus flavus (or Dutch yellow crocus) were scattered in small clusters over the lawn. The light purple crocus is the crocus albiflorus (also known as white crocus). They are both native to mountainous areas in Europe.
It is wonderful to see these early flowers in bloom – there is hope that spring is coming!
